6 Ways to Regulate Your Emotions & Raise Your Vibration

6 Ways to Regulate Your Emotions & Raise Your Vibration

What we’re currently living through can only be described as intense, historically transformational, and electromagnetically high-voltage.

And it’s all right there, written in the stars. If you haven’t kept up with Judi Vitale’s monthly horoscopes right here on the Una blog, then a quick overview of the 2025-2027 astrology includes intense frequencies like:

⭐ Pluto in Aquarius, which we haven’t experienced since the time of the American Revolution;

⭐ Uranus in Gemini, which we haven’t experienced since WWII (and the American Civil War before that),

⭐ plus Neptune and Saturn meeting at the same spot for the first time in six thousand years: at zero degrees of Aries, a phenomenon known as the Genesis Reset.

⭐ We’re also in the midst of a Mercury Retrograde

⭐ and still navigating Eclipse season with the second of two major eclipses taking place on March 3rd.

Sooooo, if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed and emotionally volatile, you’re not alone, and it’s probably got nothing to do with you!

Nevertheless, we do have the power to reclaim some calm and rediscover some inner peace.

None of us is meant to suffer or lose control based on the dizzying whims of the cosmos.

So, in today’s post, I’ll be sharing some of the most supportive and self-empowering tools I’ve found to help you manage the onslaught of emotional ups and downs we’re all feeling, and return to a place of inner strength, calm confidence, and peaceful stability.

Tap into Earth’s Stabilizing Energies

One of my favorite practices for coming down from an emotional whirlwind is to pause whatever I’m doing, close my eyes, and imagine I’m standing in the forest with my bare feet sinking into a bed of moss.

I envision the bottoms of my feet then sprouting tree roots, which grow and stretch deep into the earth’s crust, anchoring me so that while I may bend, I become one with terra firma.

I imagine my roots stretching deep below the soil, into underground caves and caverns where vast stores of precious minerals and magical stones are held, each emanating powerful electromagnetic frequencies.

I then intentionally release all of my pent-up grief, rage, overwhelm or hurt feelings down through my roots and into Mother Earth, where she lovingly accepts them for decomposition and transmutation.

I then draw back upward through my roots a sparkling swirl of electromagnetic frequencies that come from all those precious minerals buried deep in Earth’s core, feeling infused with their positivity and power.

You can try this visualization technique anytime, and amplify its impact by holding in your hands one or two (or more!) of the following crystals while you do it:

  • Amethyst, a rich and vibrant purple stone that’s known for its soothing, relaxing effects and its ability to calm anxious thoughts;

  • Rose Quartz, a soft pink stone which amplifies feelings of love, compassion and loving-kindness;

  • Citrine, a light orange crystal which is known to bring about feelings of positivity and joy, balance the Solar Plexus chakra, and can aid in improving digestion as well as boost immunity — things we know suffer when we’re feeling emotionally dysregulated;

  • Smoky Quartz, a whitish grey stone that’s stabilizing because of its ability to neutralize energy by dissipating negativity;

  • Rhodonite, a pinkish-brown stone that cultivates harmony in relationships and facilitates self-love;

  • Amazonite, a light-blue-green crystal that invites positivity, opens us up to nourishing friendships, and soothes stress.

Come visit our crystal room and spend some time perusing our collection to let the right stone find you!

Breathwork for Serenity

One of the most challenging yet clarifying practices I’ve tried for emotional healing and nervous system regulation is breathwork.

Breathwork is the active, intentional practice of controlled breathing. And it’s harder to do than it sounds!

You can breathe anywhere, anytime (just not while you’re driving or swimming!) for absolutely free, and for as little as a few seconds or as long as 30 minutes (or more, but work your way up, and check with your doctor to make sure you can do breathwork safely!).

Follow along with a professional on YouTube or elsewhere, or join a class to do it in community.

Breathe-to-the-beat as you count. Inhale, hold, and exhale with purpose and intention. Build a relationship with your diaphragm. Pay attention to the way your body resists doing this. Notice how rhythmic breathing affects your brain activity. Pat yourself on the back for trying it. And see how released, energized and clear you feel afterward.

Here are a couple of my favorite teachers sharing supportive breathwork practices:

  • The_Unclenched_Wench - who teaches how and why it’s so important to use the diaphragm properly

  • Breathe with Sandy - who discusses the value of humming to tone the vagus nerve, which is one of the biggest nerves in the body, traveling from the brain stem all the way to the gut, and which is known to hold emotional trauma

Somatic Healing to Relieve Stress

Somatic healing is a term used to refer to simple practices you can learn and conduct on yourself that physically engage the body to actively move trapped and/or trauma-induced energy out of it.

I love EFT tapping, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, and this short video by expert Maria LiPuma shows exactly how to do it, quickly and simply, right at your desk while you work, to bring about immediate feelings of relaxation.

And if you follow Anna (Ferguson) the Anxiety Coach on Instagram or YouTube, you’ll find a bunch of different, very simple somatic methods (like hugging yourself, curling your wrists, brushing the palms of your hands against each other and more) for soothing the nervous system and coping with anxiety in an instant.

Human Design for Processing Emotions Healthily

Zoom in on one of the most crucial destinations within the map of your body’s energy imprint, or your Human Design chart: the Emotional Solar Plexus.

That leftward facing triangle on the right side of the diagram is the part of us that’s responsible for processing the energy of our emotions.

But the key to using yours healthily is in recognizing that everyone’s wired to process their emotions differently.

Yours might be colored-in, just as it is in the diagram above, or not. Certain numbers might be illuminated, or not. It takes time to learn the differences, but to help you understand how you’re meant to receive, process, and give off the energy of emotion, let’s start with the basics.

If your Emotional Solar Plexus is colored-in, as shown in the diagram above, it means you are someone whose emotions operate on a cyclical wave. You are all too familiar with feeling ‘up’ about something, and then, within hours or days, feeling ‘down’ (sometimes very down!) about that very same thing.

Then, sooner or later, if you wait long enough, your body eventually reaches a mostly-neutral feeling about that very same topic, so that you’re not feeling emotionally charged about it one way or the other. Instead, you feel pretty clear-headed and certain about that thing.

Furthermore, this ‘defined’ Emotional Solar Plexus is constantly broadcasting its feelings — for everyone else to experience and pick up on, energetically speaking. About 50 percent of the population is wired this way. Keep this in mind as you continue reading.

By contrast, if your Emotional Solar Plexus is white or blank, it means your emotions do not operate on a cyclical wave pattern, so you are not at the whim of a constant flow of ups and downs.

Instead, your body is electromagnetically hardwired to be more consistently even-keeled, where feelings are concerned. Your emotions may come and go, but they aren’t meant to linger or throw you for a loop.

You’re well-positioned to simply observe an emotion as you’re having it, notice where it might be coming from or why it’s arisen, recognize that you’re feeling a particular way, and then let that feeling go.

But accomplishing that is much easier than it sounds, because for the Undefined Emotional Solar Plexus, unlike the Defined ESP’s in your life, your body is always absorbing, and then amplifying, the emotions that others are broadcasting! This is how the other half of the global population is hardwired to process emotions.

No wonder we humans are so confused about our feelings!

With an Undefined Solar Plexus, you may feel as though you’re suddenly overcome with Big Feelings that seem to come from out of nowhere — because that’s exactly what’s happening!

Big, fiery emotions are probably coming from someone nearby — they’re not you, they’re not your natural state of being, which is typically pretty non-emotive. It’s just very easy to mistake the powerful energy of others’ feelings as your own, and then to get completely swept up in them.

People with Defined ESP’s are here to learn how to build emotional awareness and allow themselves to feel the full range of human feelings, without judgment. One of their big tasks in life is to learn how to recognize when they’re on an emotional high, when they’re at a low, and what it feels like to reach serene neutrality. And once they can home in on that sweet spot, then they are ready to make smart decisions about important life matters — not before they reach it, and not after.

By contrast, people with Undefined ESP’s are here to learn from others’ suffering, bear witness to the full spectrum of human emotion, hold space for others to safely ride their emotional wave, but not to hop onboard and ride that wave with them. Their big task is to learn how to acknowledge others’ feelings without avoiding or internalizing them, and work to continuously return to their own even-keeled emotional baseline.

There’s lots more to learn about the mechanics of the Emotional Solar Plexus and the specific energetic themes that operate within it, so if you’re interested in discovering how your ESP is hardwired, alongside all of your body’s other energetic features, feel free to book a session for a private reading here and I’d be glad to analyze your chart!

Herbal Remedies & Essential Oils for Emotional Well-Being

I love the fact that trees and plants offer so many healing properties that we can access right from our local farmer’s market or even in our own backyard. Use any of the herbs below to brew into a nourishing cup of tea, transform into a revitalizing tincture, wear as a natural perfume, or add to a weeknight dinner for enhanced emotional support.

Just make sure your doctor says these are safe before consuming!

If you can’t safely ingest or wear these herbs and oils, simply enjoy spending time in nature, or add a potted plant to your kitchen windowsill to get the supportive mental health benefits that greenery bring.

Holy Basil is a common herb that helps to regulate cortisol, a hormone that spikes when we’re under stress. Try Una’s very own Claritea to open up that Third Eye, think more clearly, and reduce the brain fog that comes with emotional overwhelm.

Lavender, a common plant that’s in the mint family, eases stress, too, ushers in calm, and helps us sleep. Have you tried drifting off to sleep at night wearing one of our handmade eye pillows stuffed with organic lavender?

Chamomile is an easy-to-grow flower that can be used to evoke feelings of relaxation and soothe sleep. Enjoy it in a hot mug of Una’s Sleep Ease tea.

Lemon Balm is a common herb that’s known to soothe stress-induced headaches, ease digestion, and promote relaxation. It’s a main ingredient in our tea.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that’s widely used to lower cortisol and improve sleep. Find it in Una’s Stress Free tea, delicious hot or chilled!

Vetiver, an essential oil derived from aromatic grass, is known as the ‘oil of tranquility’ for its stress-reducing properties. Find it inside Una’s beautifully-scented Solar Plexus Chakra Perfume, blended with several of the above-mentioned soothing herbal oils, as well as inside our beloved Patchouli & Vetiver soap.

Journal Your Way to Stability

If you like the practice of putting pen to paper to free-write your thoughts and offload your feelings, but you’re not sure where to start, here are a few prompts to help you get to the root of any emotional discomfort, provide some clarity, and hopefully give you a sense of release.

  • Is there anything you’re avoiding feeling right now?

  • What do you usually do to cope with feelings of sadness, anger, or anxiety? Is that working for you? Would you like to try something different?

  • In what ways might you be resisting a confrontation or difficult conversation?

  • What do you fear might happen if you confront someone?

  • What truths would you rather not deal with or have you been refusing to face?

  • What do you fear might happen if you were to let someone close to you get upset?

  • Are you carrying around others’ pain? If so, how? Why?

  • What would happen if you let them handle their own suffering?

  • How might you be able to cope even if you let someone down?

  • What would it look like for you to say how you truly feel?

  • What are some ways you can climb out of an emotional low?

  • Explain what emotional neutrality feels like for you.

  • Is it safe for you to deal with whatever issue is weighing on you right now?

  • What would happen if you were to put off making a decision about it?

  • Do you believe you’re allowed to feel your feelings? Are you doing anything to ‘pretend’ you’re actually fine? Is that working for you?

  • How might your situation be helped or hurt by sitting with your emotions for a while and waiting to take action?

I hope these exercises brought you some new ideas for how to manage Big Feelings and regulate your nervous system at this turbulent time in our collective history. If you have any questions about them or would like to go deeper into your Human Design, drop a comment, stop by the shop, or book a private session with me at a time that fits your schedule! Good luck with all this, and let us know which, if any, of these methods you like the best!
